So, I have wanted to have a blog for a long time. I keep putting it off, thinking maybe no one would read it, or maybe people would, and that is why I was putting it off... who knows. Ether way, here we go... I'm blogging!
You will probably find that much of my rambling will be about my dogs... they are super important to me, and such a huge part of my life. I truly can not imagine life without a dog (or two or three).

So, we have these two dogs (well, three if you count my sister's pooch... but technically he's not mine.). Dr. Dog and Professor Pip, both are really sweet, cute kids, but Dr. Dog is a bit insecure, especially when it comes to other dogs. So, I get the bright idea that I'm going to give Dr. Dog private training lessons (I know, I should be able to do this myself... as I have been a dog trainer, but for some reason, I can't train Dr. Dog). So, monday I bring the dogs to work, Pip gets to play all day, and the Doctor is in solitary confinement (which just means in a kennel with solitary play time instead of group play time) until I"m done grooming... then he gets his lesson. Poor kid, I stressed him out so badly... he just is having a hard time being around the other dogs. I'm really hoping that this is going to work, I would love to take him for a walk and not worry about him freaking out if another dog passes by us, or take him swimming... he loves to swim, but the other dogs scare him! Any suggestions? I'm always open to ideas from other animal lovers... he is such a great dog, but his stress level is so high, I feel bad for him. I will certainly keep posting on his progress...

ReplyDeleteWell, do keep working on it. He is undoubtedly trying to tell you something. Like Penelope Smith would say, relax into a communication with him. Physically lean back and quietly ask him what he needs you to change in order for him to be more relaxed himself. Then wait and listen and you might be surprised. Usually the first thought you have will be him sending you his answer. Don't try to read into anything, just let it occur. They (animals) are usually very keen to communicate and will be incredulous when you start getting what they are saying. And welcome to the blogging world - one of my favourite topics is dogs!
